What I'm Reading | August 2014

Brunch at Superba | Venice, CA

No summer in Los Angeles is complete without going to a concert at the Hollywood Bowl and bringing a picnic to enjoy beforehand. This month we saw Glen Hansard, Iron and Wine, and The Head and the Heart the night after hosting another Supper Club (the first in our new place), and it was amazing. Glen wanted to keep singing, and we wish he could have!

Also, we've been walking to the beach, eating ice cream, scooping up tomatoes at the market, and generally enjoying our new routines. Here are a few of my favorite reads from around the web this month.

How to be a good dinner guest

The last generation to remember life before the internet.

Would you throw a dinner party for total strangers?

Make stress your friend.

Finding your most productive time of day. (Also, email is killing us.)

Travelling with William Wordsworth.

Summer reading recommendations from food writers.

Learning to shun the Instagram life. Also, no time to think.

7 lessons for 7 years.

Writing haiku for a more resilient you.

What to do when good and bad things happen at the same time.

Daily rituals of history's most creative minds.

Things I want to cook: Heirloom tomato gazpacho. Life-changing crackers. And cold soba noodles.
